Travelers Insurance reboots big Richardson office campus

One of the country’s top insurance firms is revamping its Richardson office, which employs hundreds of workers.

Travelers Insurance recently decided to keep its offices in the Telecom Corridor in the Collins Square building at 1301 E. Collins Boulevard.

The New York-based insurer has about 140,000 square feet of space in the building, which is represented by Allen-based property firm Pillar Commercial.

Built in 1985, the four-story office building is just east of U.S. Highway 75.

Travelers Insurance is the largest tenant in the office building.

And the Richardson campus is one of the insurance firm’s biggest employment centers. But large numbers of Travelers employees have been working from home because of the pandemic.

Construction is set to start this summer on a major overhaul of Travelers’ Richardson office, according to planning documents filed with the state.

The work is scheduled to be completed at the end of the year and will cost more than $3 million.

Dallas-based ID Group is designing the project.

Pillar Commercial is also making improvements to the common areas of the building.

Travelers is one of several major insurance company employers in Richardson.

And its new office deal is one of the largest recent lease renewals in that market.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas and State Farm Insurance also have thousands of workers housed in buildings in the U.S. 75 corridor in Richardson.
