Farmers Branch History
Farmers Branch was first settled in 1842. Thomas Keenan and his wife Sarah were the first settlers of the area. Originally, the city was part of Peter's Colony and known as Mustang. Later on, it was renamed Farmers Branch because of the area's flourishing crops and rich soil. The Webb's Chapel Methodist Church, the first church of the city and first school of the county, was established in 1845. The city's post office was established in 1848. The Dallas and Wichita Railroad entered the city around 1877. Farmers Branch was officially incorporated on February 23, 1946.
